Vice City cops are trading psychic radar for suspect sightlines

GTA V cops tracked players through walls. Trailer 2 shows tactical units on the door. Description heat is still recap theory, not a wanted meter on tape.
GTA V police tracked player coordinates through concrete. Official Trailer 2 footage shows tactical units setting perimeters and holding doorways. That is posture on a PlayStation 5 capture. It is not a wanted HUD.

Description-based heat (swapping getaway cars and clothing) remains unverified speculation.

Paleto was a psychic act
In GTA V, Los Santos police tracked getaway routes without line of sight, spawning cruisers directly onto escape paths regardless of cover. A long-standing thread on r/GTA6 is the complaint: unobserved crimes still trip sirens. A YouTube patrol breakdown of the V loop is worse. Officers sweep a small radius, leave, then execute a 180-degree turn back across the exact same dirt.
Trailer 2 puts tactical teams on the door
Rockstar confirmed Trailer 2 was captured in-game on PlayStation 5. The footage shows tactical teams advancing in formation and securing structures. They are not charging blind. The official screenshot library catalogs vehicles, weapons, regions, and characters. It contains no wanted meter. The tape proves tactical posture. It does not prove a dispatch timer or a star threshold.
Description heat is still a recap read
Creator breakdowns, including analysis from recap channels, argue that Leonida law enforcement tracks suspect descriptions instead of player blips. Under that theory, a robbery in an identifiable sedan and outfit puts units on those visual markers. Swap the car or change clothes in an alley and the link breaks. Then they search a perimeter.
Early development clips referenced in our taser note showed debug toasts with face and clothing icons during a one-star incident. Rockstar has not confirmed description tracking as a gameplay mechanic. Unofficial HUD elements remain cataloged on wanted.
Dispatch distance, not ridge magic
Analysis from community recaps wants physical dispatch delays based on precinct distance, so you have a window to secure loot before heavy backup arrives. That would kill the GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 trick where wilderness crimes spawned lawmen over adjacent ridges.
The engineering catch is still there. Former Rockstar artist David O'Reilly told GameByte that trailer scenes use curated camera paths, while runtime AI has to live inside real-time memory constraints across a dense map. A note on that same recap tape is the GTA constraint: pursuit has to stay believable and still play as satire.
County lines are still a blank
Rockstar has not confirmed a Vice City cruiser handing a vehicle bulletin to a rural swamp sheriff. It has not confirmed that crossing a county line resets the look. It has not printed a maximum star rating.
The next official footage arrives with the Extended Look on 27 August 2026 (Netflix at 3:00 p.m. ET; YouTube and Rockstar at 9:00 p.m. ET). Until a wanted meter shows up in play, the tape is disciplined perimeter behavior. Description evasion stays community theory.
