Why Leonida, not the Americas
Reported · 2 outlets agree Rockstar’s first research trip to Miami was in 2015. The project was then code-named “Project Americas”, with the aim of featuring parts of North and South America on its map. It was later cut back to Miami and its surroundings, which became Vice City and Leonida (GamesRadar+ · TheGamer, both on Bloomberg, 14 October 2026).

Vice City — "Everything in Excess"
Sun and fun capital of America, a long way from the 80s. Official names in that paragraph: Ocean Beach, Little Cuba, Tisha-Wocka flea market, VC Port ("the cruise ship capital of the world"). Those four are not a complete district list. More Vice City stills sit on the Vice City hub.
Leonida Keys — "Gateway to Paradise"
A tropical archipelago. Casual dress code, loaded bars, life that "isn't flashy but it's easy," on the doorstep of beautiful and dangerous waters. Jason Duval's work for local drug runners is character copy, not a map key.
Grassrivers — "Welcome to the Wetlands"
"The untamable jewel of Leonida's crown." Primordial mangroves. Gators are the famous attraction. Deadlier predators and weirder discoveries under the surface. That is the postcard. It is not a trail list.
Port Gellhorn — "Live Hard"
Leonida's forgotten coast. Cheap motels, shut-down attractions, empty strip malls that "won't bring the tourists back." New economy: malt liquor, painkillers, truck stop energy drinks. Dirt bike optional. Wallet not.
Ambrosia — "Keeping Leonida Sweet"
Heart of Leonida. Allied Crystal sugar refinery provides the jobs. The local biker gang provides almost everything else and is still unnamed. A 19 August clip that uses those words is unverified. We do not embed it. See the clip note and the Ambrosia guide.
Mount Kalaga National Park — "Wild, Wild Country"
Northern fringes. A national landmark on the state's northern border. Hunting, fishing, off-road trails as advertised activities, not a systems spec. Hillbilly mystics and paranoid radicals in the backwoods, far from government eyes. Gloriana is a license-plate argument, not a second state.
Rockstar has named six destinations. It has not published an in-game world map with a scale. Its first full map art arrived on a souvenir poster on 24 September (below). It has not published square miles on its site. Size comparisons come from press previews, labeled below. 28 August 2026: the Extended Look tape did not print a seventh region or a square-mile number.

Is the Miami Seaquarium in GTA 6?
Official An 8 October screenshot on rockstargames.com/VI shows a highway sign that reads “Vice City Oceanarium ENTRANCE”. Reported Insider Gaming suggested a golden dome in the same shot may be the Oceanarium; the real Miami Seaquarium on Virginia Key, with its own golden dome, closed on 12 October 2025 after 70 years (Miami Herald). Rockstar has not said the Oceanarium is based on it Not confirmed.

The first official full map is a poster
Store listing Rockstar’s US$399.99 Vice City Collection merch box includes a “Double-Sided Souvenir Poster with Map of Leonida.” The store copy: Macca the Gator characters on the front, and on the back “a full view of the Leonida map” so you can “plan a road trip to every corner of the Goodtime State.” That is the first full map of Leonida Rockstar has put out. It is illustrated souvenir art. Don’t measure it with a ruler.

Rockstar still hasn’t printed a square-mile number. The press comparisons above came from interviews during the August preview, not from a Rockstar page. Fan maps are good fun and sometimes right. They stay labeled. Size argument, longer: map size.
Counties are not the region list
Vice-Dale, Leonard, Kelly, Mariana, and Ambrosia appear on signs and vehicles in the trailers. That is in-game text. It is not a Rockstar county map. Ambrosia the region and Ambrosia the county-name-on-a-sign are easy to mash together. Do not.
