Hardware side-buy: DualSense Limited Editions have been live since 10 September, 10:00 a.m. ET on PlayStation Direct (DualSense). That pad is optional merch already in the wild — not a game unlock. Next hard dates: pre-load 12 November; Miami HEAT “Vice City” night 18 November, 7:00 p.m. ET; launch 19 November, 12:00 a.m. ET (US store listings).
Quick answers
- Pre-load? 12 November 2026, local midnight at your store. Download date, not a play date.
- Launch? 19 November 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
- Install size? Official: unpublished. Desk plan: clear ~200–250 GB free (unofficial). Storage.
- DualSense? Optional side-buy, live since 10 Sep, 10:00 a.m. ET. Not on the critical path.
What to do before 19 November: account and console setup
Checked 14 October 2026. These are console steps; there is no PC version.
- Sign in to the right console account. Official GTA VI is PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only. Buy it on the account you will play on; a digital purchase stays with that PlayStation Network or Microsoft account.
- Rockstar Games account. Store listing The Xbox listing says some features “may require internet connection, Rockstar Games account registration”. Not confirmed Rockstar has not said whether the story needs one. If you already link a Rockstar account for GTA Online, check you can still sign in at rockstargames.com.
- No Rockstar Games Launcher on console. Official The Launcher is Rockstar’s PC app. On PS5 and Xbox you download and start the game from the console’s own library. Any “GTA 6 launcher” download for PC is not real.
- Offline play. Store listing The US PlayStation page lists “Offline play enabled”. You still need the internet to download the game and any day-one patch.
- Clear storage. Not confirmed No install size is published. Estimate Clear 200–250 GB before 12 November. See storage.
- Pre-load. Store listing 12 November, 12:00 a.m. ET on US store listings. Turn on rest mode and automatic downloads so it finishes overnight. If you might cancel on PlayStation, leave automatic downloads off, because starting the pre-load ends the refund window. See cancel a pre-order.
- Payment card. Official Microsoft can charge a pre-order up to 10 days before release, so make sure your card is valid by 9 November, or the pre-order can be cancelled.
- GTA+ month (digital pre-orders). Store listing On Xbox, redeem it under Store, then profile, then “Offers & credits” within 180 days. Child accounts with age restrictions can’t redeem it. It’s for GTA Online, not GTA VI (GTA+).
- Family settings. Official ESRB rates it M for Mature 17+. Set console parental controls before launch night if kids share the console (parents guide).
- Trophies and achievements. Not confirmed No trophy or achievement list has been published on PlayStation or Xbox as of 14 October. We will add one when a store lists it.

Hard dates (what still matters)
- Digital pre-load: 12 November 2026, local midnight at your store.
- Launch: 19 November 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
- Vintage Vice City Pack: purchases before 20 November 2026.
- Already done: Extended Look aired 27 August 2026. DualSense Limited Edition pre-orders opened 10 September 2026, 10:00 a.m. ET — optional, already live.
Storage and download
- Rockstar has not printed an install size. Official: unpublished.
- Desk estimate (Unofficial): budget ~150–200 GB install + patch buffer → clear ~200–250 GB free before 12 November. Full math: storage.
- Rest-mode / auto-download exists so the pull can finish overnight. Wire the console when you can.
- Physical box = download code. Same pre-load window from ~12 Nov. No disc to rescue you if the network dies. Boxed copy.
Accounts and stores
- PS5: PlayStation Network account ready, payment method not expired, console storage free.
- Xbox: Microsoft account + Game Pass is not a GTA 6 day-one promise. Buy the game.
- Only check out on PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, the Rockstar Store or major retailers you trust. Fake “early access” sites are scams.

Edition pick (two minutes)
- Standard US$79.99 vs Ultimate US$99.99. Ultimate is digital-side extras, not a collector shrine.
- No official PC SKU at launch. Do not buy a “PC key” from a random storefront.
- If you only want the story on day one, Standard is enough. If you already decided on Ultimate, stay on an official store.

Launch-night checklist
- Pre-load finished or box code redeemed.
- Controller charged. DualSense Limited Edition is optional merch — have a spare pad if you can, stick drift or not.
- Headset optional. Friends list optional. Spoilers will be everywhere.
- Know your country’s unlock habit: we do not invent a worldwide midnight. See release dates.
- Add the ICS from the calendar so the phone nags you, not Reddit.
Buyer next steps (this week)
- Standard vs Ultimate on editions / compare.
- Buy on an official door from the pre-order guide.
- If you want the Limited DualSense: check PlayStation Direct stock — it is already live, not a future drop.
- Clear SSD space now using the storage desk plan.
- Add pre-load + launch ICS from the calendar.
What this is not
Not a leak map. Not a PC specs lie. Not a promise that Online ships day one. DualSense is not a hard gate for launch night.
