GTA VI pre-load and day-one checklist
You can download GTA 6 from 12 November at local midnight, a week before launch Store listing. You can’t play until 19 November, 12:00 a.m. ET in the US Store listing. New here? Start here.
Extended Look already aired (27 August). DualSense Limited Edition pre-orders have been live since 10 September, 10:00 a.m. ET — optional pad, not a game unlock. See DualSense. Digital game pre-load is still 12 November. Storage plan before that week: storage.
Pre-load
12 November 2026, local midnight. A download date. Not a play date.
Launch
19 November 2026. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Vintage cutoff
Purchases before 20 November 2026.
PC
Not on the official launch list. No date.
The three November dates
Rockstar printed these. We did not invent a fourth. Official: Take-Two PR, 24 June 2026 · Newswire, 25 June.
| Date | What happens | What does not |
|---|---|---|
| 12 November 2026 | Digital pre-load starts, local midnight. Physical boxes go on sale so you can enter the code and start the same download. | You cannot start the story. A storefront queue is not early access. |
| 19 November 2026 | Launch. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. This is the play date. | No official PC SKU. No last-gen SKU. No disc in the box. |
| 20 November 2026 | Vintage Vice City Pack cutoff. Pre-orders and any purchase before this date include the pack. | Do not write “free forever.” Day-after-launch buyers can miss it. |
Download date ≠ play date
Say it out loud. Pre-load week pulls the files onto your SSD. The story stays locked until 19 November. A progress bar on the 12th is not Lucia and Jason. If a streamer screams “we’re in,” ask which Newswire they are reading.
Rest-mode auto-download tip
Set the console to keep pulling while you sleep. PS5: rest mode with Stay Connected to the Internet, plus Automatic Downloads. Xbox Series X|S: Instant-on so queue downloads can finish in standby. Wire the box if you can. Full storage math and Series S caution: storage.
Physical code-in-box still needs the download
Official: the box holds a download code, not a disc. Boxes go on sale from about 12 November so you can redeem and start the same pre-load. Cardboard does not skip the pipe. Same unpublished install hole as digital. Ownership anger is not evidence a playable disc SKU exists. Full card: boxed copy.

What the Vintage pack actually is
Rockstar’s list: a ’55 Vapid Stanier, a Shore Court garage near Ocean Beach, vintage outfits and hairstyles for both leads, and a tropical weapon pattern they tied to the 2002 game. Digital pre-orders also include a month of GTA+. That GTA+ line is for digital. It is not a promise the boxed code includes the same month.
