- Can I upgrade later? Yes. Rockstar Support: Standard owners can buy the Ultimate Edition Upgrade on PlayStation / Microsoft storefronts after the Standard code is redeemed.
- Physical Ultimate box? Not offered. Physical is Standard code-in-box; upgrade digitally after redeem.

Pick Standard if
- You mainly want the campaign on day one.
- You do not care about exclusive shops / cosmetics before anyone outside Rockstar has played.
- You want the lower sticker and will decide on the upgrade after a few hours in Leonida.
Pick Ultimate if
- You already want Rideout / Willie / clothes doors / extra vehicles from the locker sheet.
- The extra US$20 is comfortable and you prefer one checkout.
- You are buying digital and want the bundle locked before launch week chaos.
The upgrade escape hatch
Rockstar Support says the Ultimate Edition Upgrade is sold separately for Standard owners. Physical Standard buyers upgrade after redeeming the download code. That is why “buy Standard now, upgrade later” is a real path, not a forum rumor. Cite: Rockstar Support: Platforms, Editions, and Versions.

- Read the locker on editions if Ultimate is tempting.
