Rockstar premiered Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look on Netflix at 3:00 p.m. ET on August 27, 2026. The same file went up on official YouTube around 9:00 p.m. ET. About 27 minutes of PlayStation 5 footage. Not Trailer 3. Not a pay-per-view drop.

What Rockstar printed

The VI page sent Watch Now to Netflix first. Six hours later the official YouTube id was tJbzMqJGH4k. You needed a Netflix login at 3 p.m. ET. You did not buy the trailer. After 9 p.m. ET the tape was free on YouTube and still on Netflix.

The fight was about the wait

Reporting from Forbes noted Netflix touted the broadcast as a first-of-its-kind event and skipped the delayed YouTube time in early press notes. Reddit and creator channels called the six-hour wait scummy. That was a premiere window on a subscription app, not a paid early-access buy.

Inquiries to Netflix indicated live co-streams and reaction broadcasts were off during that window. Rockstar never posted its own broadcast rules. After 9 p.m. ET the argument ended. The official file is free.
