Rockstar put the first public deep dive of Grand Theft Auto VI on Netflix at 3:00 p.m. ET on Thursday, August 27, then posted the same file on YouTube that night. That is a first window, not a paywall product.

The living-room slot, then the open file

Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look started on Netflix at 3:00 p.m. ET, as Rockstar Games confirmed on X. The free YouTube file landed around 9:00 p.m. ET on the Rockstar Games YouTube channel and the official GTA VI website. About 27 minutes. Not Trailer 3.

IGN reported Netflix pitching the slot as a first-of-its-kind promotional partnership, with a landing page on Netflix. Rockstar tested a scheduled living-room broadcast instead of a surprise YouTube premiere.

Subscription jokes, same-day file

Parking the first look inside a subscription app hit a nerve, because GTA has spent decades roasting corporate middlemen. In a community discussion on YouTube, one comment put it in one line: "In 2026, you pay money to watch advertisements." Patient fans paid nothing extra. They waited until evening.

November 19 is still the date

The broadcast did not move the launch calendar. Grand Theft Auto VI is still November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with pre-orders on the official GTA VI hub and updates on the Rockstar Newswire. The open file is already on YouTube.
