Official Rockstar: GTA VI “heads to the state of Leonida, home to the neon-soaked streets of Vice City and beyond.” Rockstar names six regions: Vice City, Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga National Park.

Official Vice City neighbourhoods named in Rockstar’s copy: Ocean Beach, Little Cuba, the Tisha-Wocka flea market and VC Port, “the cruise ship capital of the world”.

Reported Press and fans read Leonida as Florida, Vice City as Miami, Leonida Keys as the Florida Keys and Grassrivers as the Everglades. Rockstar’s store copy says the game is fictional, and any resemblance to real places is coincidental.

Official Rockstar’s Vice City copy opens: “We’re a long way from the ’80s, but Vice City is still the sun and fun capital of America.” So this is not a 1980s remake of GTA: Vice City (2002).

Reported Rob Nelson to IGN: “The first thing we think about is where are we going to set it. OK, Miami and Florida… Vice City and Leonida.”
Reported On satire, Nelson said the studio has “to not jump on stuff” and chooses things that are “a bit more timeless.”
