Take-Two's X and YouTube Subpoenas Don't Identify the GTA 6 Leaker

Take-Two filed extra DMCA subpoena requests aimed at X and YouTube. Named accounts appear to be copycats, and the court clerk has not issued any of the four subpoenas.

A new filing is not a name. TorrentFreak reports that Take-Two applied for DMCA subpoenas against X Corp. and Google in the Southern District of New York, one day after filings targeting Microsoft and Discord. Handled by Ruttenberg IP Law instead of Kirkland & Ellis, the new requests target specific handles but have produced no public identifications.

What the new filings request

The earlier Microsoft and Discord petitions cast a wide net over Discord channels with a 4 September production target. The newer SDNY filings from Ruttenberg IP Law are narrower. The proposed X subpoena asks for account IDs, registration emails, IP access logs, phone numbers, connected accounts, and device identifiers from 1 June onward for three handles: @cyberleek_ar_io, @cyberleekario, and @MrCyberLeek.

The Google request targets one YouTube video and three channels: CyberLeeks, Surfer24k, and Cyberleek_ar_io. An attached exhibit logs Rockstar's takedown of reference file "UNAUTH_2026AUG_VIDEO2," flagged by YouTube Content ID. The exhibit also notes Solana token watermarks on the clips, matching the broader crypto storefront campaign.

Named accounts appear to be copycats

The GTA community flagged the three X handles as impostor accounts prior to the filing. Subsequent leaked footage carried an explicit watermark: "CYBERLEEK DOES NOT HAVE TWITTER." While X has suspended all three accounts, the filing does not clarify whether Take-Two considers them primary sources or downstream re-uploaders.

The handle Surfer24k appears in both the Discord and Google filings. Securing matching logs across platforms would allow Take-Two to connect account activity, but cross-referencing records is not the same as identifying an individual.

None of the four subpoenas have been issued

None of the four DMCA 512(h) filings constitute a lawsuit. Although Judge Andrew L. Carter Jr. and Judge Jennifer L. Rochon signed orders directing the clerk to issue the subpoenas, the SDNY clerk has not yet issued them, and no intermediary has handed over subscriber data.

Intermediaries and users can challenge the scope of DMCA 512(h) subpoenas, particularly Discord's sweeping request for all members in three servers since 1 June. Rockstar has not published any suspect details on the Newswire, and leaks have not altered Rockstar's release schedule.
