Trunk shut at the curb. Heat flashing two stars. Clean getaway on foot through a Vice City alley, but your pump shotgun is locked inside the sedan three blocks behind police tape. Not a glitch. Not a script.

The trunk is the armory

IGN says Grand Theft Auto VI borrows Red Dead Redemption 2's physical friction. Jason and Lucia store long guns, heavy ordnance, and spare outfits in vehicle trunks and safehouse lockers. The invisible pocket wheel is gone. Kotaku and IGN both describe stepping out of a car and leaving heavy rifles in the trunk unless you sling one. Pit that car into an Ocean Drive canal, or spike the tires, and the heavy kit sinks with the chassis. The shootout is whatever is holstered on the belt.

Criminal Profile is not a fail state

GameSpot and Dexerto describe a Criminal Profile modeled on RDR2's Honor meter. It does not fail missions for chaotic play. Rockstar co-director Rob Nelson said the game modulates response velocity based on malice and weapon display. Smash-and-grabs without gunfire keep heat manageable. Collateral damage brings aggressive tactical cordons. That is a heat curve, not a morality meter that ends the mission.

Safehouses are downtime, not a reset

IGN reports safehouses as regional staging camps across Leonida. Jason and Lucia stash illicit cash, swap outfits, and bleed off investigative pressure by district. The old habit of an instant, consequence-free reset is not the model in that reporting. The downtime between scores is the recovery.

November 19 still ships that loop

Grand Theft Auto VI is still November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, on the Rockstar Games VI site. Official updates sit on the Rockstar Newswire. If the trunk story holds, the long gun three blocks back is the design. It is a getaway tax, not a nerf on chaos.
