GTA 6 $400 collector box: launch day still needs a second purchase

On 24 September 2026, Kotaku reported that Rockstar opened pre-orders for the GTA 6 $400 collector box, Grand Theft Auto VI: The Goodtime State - Vice City Collection. The Verge printed $399.99 and said Rockstar states the game is sold separately. The missing disc is a disclosed merch split, not a hidden omission.

The crate and the game share 19 November 2026, Kotaku reports. Buy only the box and Leonida is still a second purchase. The Verge prices that purchase at $79.99 or $99.99, and leaves the two figures unmapped to edition names.

Ultimate Edition and the Vice City Collection

Rockstar's VI page already files three products side by side. The Collector's Box is The Vice City Collection, a premium limited-edition collectible set inspired by Leonida's hit TV show, Macca the Gator. Ultimate Edition is the listing threaded across Jason and Lucia's story. The Vintage Vice City Pack is a separate pre-order bonus. The protagonists are named on the edition. The crate is named for the TV gator.

That page prints Coming November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. A dollar figure and a sold-separately sentence are absent from the fetched text. Kotaku reports Rockstar's store page says the game is sold separately, and that the box arrives the same day as GTA 6. The Verge attributes that split to Rockstar at $399.99. The store page behind that line stays unfetched. The three-way listing is what the VI page prints.

A GTA 6 pre-order of the game is the other product. The crate adds no weapon, vehicle, radio station, or map pin. These pages never turn Macca into a character you play, a place you drive to, or an unlock. The purchase gives you no reason to stop the car.

Macca the Gator set dated to November 19

IGN reports eleven items in a $400 set dated to 19 November, and says a copy of the game is left out. Named pieces include a 6-inch Macca the Gator figure with a stash compartment, Oakley sunglasses, a New Era 9FORTY A-Frame snapback with Vice City Leonida embellishments, a Macca magnetic mirror, a Vice City swizzle spoon, a Vice City razor-blade keychain, a Leonida Keys crossbody bag, and a Chunkee the Manatee shot glass. The Verge also lists stickers, pins, and a souvenir poster. A disc and a download code are absent from both inventories.

The Verge sets $399.99 above the $90 GTA IV collectible set and the $150 GTA V collectible set, and marks this as the release where the game is sold separately. In that framing the older sets were a different category. This crate is merch, and the game is still a second charge, with $79.99 and $99.99 left unlabeled by The Verge. Kotaku says the box arrives the same day as the game. IGN says it releases 19 November. No page here promises the crate in hand the morning of launch.

The missing game disc on November 19

On a YouTube thread about the $400 box, a viewer wrote:

i ain't getting GTA6 digitally until it is on a real physical disc for the PS5

On another upload, a buyer says they purchased the crate and are proud of it.

The VI page already sets 19 November 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Kotaku and IGN point the crate at that day. This crate can take a collector shelf and still leave the session unstarted. The purchase that launches Leonida is the one Kotaku and The Verge say is sold separately.
