The Album landed — six singles and a vinyl chase

17 September: Rockstar + Atlantic posted Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album. Thirty-four original tracks. Six singles streaming the same day. Full album dated to 19 November with the game. Vinyl and CD at gtavi-thealbum.com — liquid / splatter exclusives sold hard; scalping is community color, not a product claim.

Soft prelude ~15–16 Sep: matching artist artwork and Spotify billboards. That was the tease. The Official card is the album.

Same day, two meanings of Online

Take-Two’s Zelnick Q&A (17 Sep): VI launches single-player; no recurrent consumer spending anticipated for this launch; GTA Online (V) continues. Twitch CEO Dan Clancy, same window: big bump at launch, “even bigger one next year when they launch multiplayer.” Fans argued past each other all weekend. We keep Clancy Reported and refuse the 2027 ship upgrade.

~20 September: GTA VI O'Clock / Jarvis sourcing (Dexerto) says Rockstar emailed talent reminding them NDAs run until 19 November 2026 — line to the effect of “the date you may announce your involvement is still November 19th.” Context: Stephen Root already on the record with AP as Brian Heder. Mod Guidelines updated — still not a PC date (Official policy)

~21–22 September: Rockstar refreshed its Mod Guidelines. No expanding or rewriting official stories, characters, or missions. No cross-title IP mashups. Multiplayer mods only via the official Creator Platform (or separate permission). Monetization stays boxed in. Press (The Verge, Polygon, GameRant) read it as PC-forward rules for Rockstar titles. It does not print a Grand Theft Auto VI PC window.

US$399.99 and no game in the box (Official)

24 September: the Rockstar Store opened pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto VI: The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection. US$399.99 (£349.99). Eleven items built around Macca the Gator, a Leonida TV show: a Macca figure, Oakley Frogskins, a New Era snapback, a Leonida Keys crossbody bag, pins, stickers, a shot glass, a razor-blade keychain, and a double-sided poster with a map of Leonida on the back. The game is sold separately. It ships from 19 November, one per customer while supplies last.

That black box from the Mexico packaging photos turned out to be real. It is merch, not the collector’s edition people wanted. Comment sections split between “the Oakleys and the map sell it” and “four hundred dollars and no disc.”

The map got labels, then lost them (Reported)

The first store image of that poster showed four islands on the western edge with readable names. Fans read two as Crude Islands and Sandbars. Rockstar swapped the image soon after: outlines stay, names gone. Screenshots did not go anywhere. Some mappers say the poster does not line up with the leaked map. Neither name is on Rockstar’s six-region list.

PS5 vs Xbox pre-orders: a spat, not a number (Reported)

The Verge’s Tom Warren wrote that Xbox sources say VI pre-orders are “heavily skewed toward PS5.” Xbox CSO Matthew Ball answered on X on 24 September: the game is “breaking records for Xbox,” and Xbox’s share of pre-orders matches its share of the console market. Neither side posted units. Rockstar and Take-Two have not published pre-order totals.

Miami Beach said yes to IRL Vice City

The week’s civic story is not a leak. Miami Beach’s commission approved a Rockstar marketing package after a noisy fight — opponents even played GTA 6 clips in the meeting. Fans are watching “Welcome Back to Vice City” style outdoor work like it is already Leonida.

Update, 22 September: the chatter became letters. A helicopter lifted a pink-and-white “Welcome to Vice City” sign onto the Kaseya Center roof, home of the Heat. The Miami Herald reports the Miami-Dade County deal with Rockstar is worth US$975,000. Same week: a GTA VI ad in Times Square, and UK shops putting up official posters with a provisional PEGI 18. Status: Reported marketing, not Newswire.

PlayStation’s limited Black / White DualSense pads opened 10 September 2026 at 10:00 a.m. ET. US list US$84.99. They ship with the game on 19 November. They do not include the game. Black is the Direct-scarce one in the US; White is wider retail.
