You Pre-Load Jason and Lucia: Leonida Is the Continuity Line

Grand Theft Auto VI launches on November 19, 2026 as a return to modern day Vice City in the sprawling state of Leonida, and that Rockstar Newswire line is the GTA 6 universe connection you can actually plan a drive around. The city is the callback. The leads are Jason and Lucia.

Players who already burned a decade in Los Santos know a city title and a shared cast are different toys. The Newswire says the extra months allow the studio to finish the game with the level of polish players expect. Rockstar Support puts the campaign on Jason and Lucia, with Ultimate Edition bonuses threaded across all aspects of their story and new items uncovered behind each chapter. Pre-orders cover PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, digital pre-load starts November 12 at local midnight, and the physical download code, with no disc, covers Grand Theft Auto VI and the Vintage Vice City Pack, with shipping and pickup from that date.

Leonida on the Sign, Florida in the Comments

Commenters under Will GTA 6 Retcon the 3D and HD Universe Rule? are arguing the Leonida Florida name before any road sign is in players' hands. One claims Niko mentions Florida in GTA 4 while the HD-universe state is Leonida. A reply doubts the name was planned in 2008. Another argues Leonida is a nickname for Florida, or a copyright stand-in, and that the lore state is still Florida. If you drive the retcon, signs say Leonida and an older Florida line is leftover wording. If you drive the nickname, Leonida is the label on the Florida you already picture. A commenter says IV rewrote III and V both rewrote and called back to San Andreas, so the GTA 6 HD universe question is not locked by a state name.

Five Cameos the June List Wants

On June 14, 2025, Times of India published five hoped-for GTA 6 cameos and framed them as hopes. The list wants a Trevor cameo or flashback from time in Florida, which the piece equates with Leonida, and it asks what he did in the Everglades. It wants a child of CJ with a Grove Street line, Jason and Lucia caught between FIB and IAA, Lazlow on Vice City radio, and Tommy Vercetti mentioned, his empire collapsed, or a corrupt heir, in what the piece calls Vice City 2.0. Hearing one of those five on the wheel, or meeting one inside a Jason and Lucia chapter, is what would turn the wish into a job.

Two Phils, or One City Seen Sideways

One commenter on the retcon video keeps the universes separate.

Maybe the Vercetti Estate and other Vice City stuff are just cool Easter eggs or the HD version of those things.

The same commenter remembers a Phil look in Trailer 2 and reads an HD double, which would mean two Phils, and that memory is unconfirmed. Another commenter, grain of salt included, argues one universe seen sideways, so a place the lead never visits can still sit off the map they drive. A reply notes Red Dead Redemption 2 says New York, not Liberty City. The GTA 6 Vice City return you pre-load on November 12 is Jason and Lucia in Leonida. An old name becomes a job when their chapter or the radio says it.
