Take-Two’s November 9 Earnings: What to Watch for GTA 6, and What Past Calls Show

Take-Two reports on November 9 at 4:30 p.m. ET, 10 days before GTA 6. Here’s what it has said, what it did before GTA 5 and Red Dead 2, and what’s still not confirmed.
Take-Two will report its results for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, after the market closes on Monday, November 9, and hold a conference call at 4:30 p.m. ET. That’s 10 days before GTA 6 launches on November 19. It’s the last earnings call before release, and it won’t include a single launch sale.
So what can it tell us? Here’s what Take-Two has already said, what it did before GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2, and what’s still missing.
Claim. “Take-Two will reveal GTA 6 pre-order numbers on November 9.”
Evidence. Official: Take-Two has never published a GTA 6 pre-order figure. In August, Strauss Zelnick called pre-orders “unprecedented and astonishing” but gave no number. In 2018, before Red Dead Redemption 2, he told analysts “we don’t really talk about how preorders are stacking up.”
Verdict. Not confirmed. A number would break Take-Two’s own pattern.
- Jul 30, 2013: Take-Two raises its outlook ahead of GTA 5.
- Aug 2, 2018, 4:30 p.m. ET: no Red Dead 2 pre-order numbers.
- May 21, 2026: fiscal 2027 outlook of $8.0 to $8.2 billion.
- Jun 25, 2026: GTA 6 pre-orders open.
- Aug 7, 2026: “unprecedented” pre-orders; outlook kept.
- Sep 17, 2026: annual meeting; console-only launch restated.
- Nov 9, 2026, 4:30 p.m. ET: Q2 call.

The Date, From Take-Two Itself
Take-Two’s October 13 release says it “plans to report financial results for its second quarter of fiscal year 2027, ended September 30, 2026, after the market close on Monday, November 9, 2026,” with a call “at 4:30 p.m. Eastern Time” and a webcast on its investor site (Official).
The quarter closed on September 30, so GTA 6 launch sales can’t be in it. That makes guidance and commentary the main event.
What Take-Two Has Already Said
- The outlook. On May 21, Take-Two set fiscal 2027 net bookings at $8.0 to $8.2 billion, against $6.72 billion for fiscal 2026 (Official). In August, Zelnick tied that outlook to “excitement around the November 19th launch of Grand Theft Auto VI.”
- The last quarter. On August 7, Take-Two reported $1.39 billion in net bookings, reiterated the $8.0 to $8.2 billion outlook, and guided this quarter to $1.62 to $1.67 billion (Official).
- Pre-orders. Zelnick said: “I can say that the level of preorders is unprecedented and astonishing… But they are so unprecedented that we just don’t know how it’ll translate into sales” (Reported, Variety). Pre-orders had been open five days in that quarter. He also said Take-Two wasn’t changing guidance because “we haven’t sold one unit yet. You can cancel a preorder” (Reported, GamesBeat).
- Platforms. Take-Two’s August release lists GTA 6 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19 (Official). At the September 17 annual meeting, Zelnick said the company launches “for any platforms for which there’s a meaningful audience” and that “the PC platform is becoming more and more important to our company over time” (Reported, GamesRadar).
What Past Calls Show
GTA 5, 2013. On July 30, 2013, Take-Two beat its quarter, raised its fiscal-year outlook, and said GTA 5 would launch September 17 (Official). That launch fell inside the quarter ending September 30, 2013, so it showed up in the next report. GTA 6 launches after its quarter closes.
Red Dead Redemption 2, 2018. This is the closer match. Take-Two’s August 2, 2018 call came about three months before RDR2’s October 26 release. The CFO guided the September quarter to $500 million to $550 million, with NBA 2K, GTA Online, GTA 5 and Social Point as the largest contributors, not RDR2. Asked about pre-orders, Zelnick said: “we don’t really talk about how preorders are stacking up, digital versus physical.” And: “We never take anything for granted and we don’t claim success early” (Official, call transcript).
The same caution runs through 2026. “We just don’t believe in claiming victory before it occurs,” Zelnick said in August.
What to Watch on November 9
- Q2 net bookings against $1.62 to $1.67 billion. That’s Take-Two’s own target (Official).
- The full-year outlook. Does $8.0 to $8.2 billion hold, rise, or fall? Take-Two didn’t raise it in August (Official).
- Deferred revenue. Take-Two’s June 30 balance sheet showed $988.4 million in current deferred revenue and $26.1 million non-current (Official). That line is where payments received before a product is delivered sit. Any change won’t be labelled as GTA 6 pre-orders, so treat readings of it as Estimate.
- Tone. Will Zelnick repeat “unprecedented,” go further, or go quieter?
Not Confirmed
- Pre-order numbers. Take-Two hasn’t published any GTA 6 pre-order count, in units or dollars.
- A PC window. GamesBeat reported, citing four anonymous sources, that Rockstar plans a PC release before the end of March 2027. VGC notes Rockstar has yet to confirm a PC version (Reported). Take-Two lists GTA 6 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only.
- Launch sales. Not in this report. The first quarter that can include them ends December 31, 2026.
