Garbut Says Leonida Is Around Twice GTA 5

Insider Gaming's September 29 account of GameInformer has Garbut putting the GTA 6 Leonida map size at around twice GTA 5, and that is the first comparison a player can use to time a drive across the state. The 150 to 160 square kilometer figure beside it is the outlet's arithmetic, not his.

Insider Gaming reported that the latest GameInformer called Leonida the biggest Rockstar map ever, and by some degree. Garbut, in that account, did not give square kilometers.

We obsessed about every part - the rooftops, the alleys, the internals and everything in between to the point we hit a critical mass with the numbers of our interiors, and you start to feel the buildings are more real inside and out.

150 to 160 Is the Outlet's Math

The kilometer total on that page is Insider Gaming's math. It treated GTA 5 as around 75 to 80 square kilometers with around 50 on land, and wrote that if that statement is true, Leonida should be around 150 to 160 square kilometers including ocean, or around 100 on land. Counting the water is the outlet's split from its GTA 5 baseline.

Rockstar's Newswire calls Leonida sprawling, promises modern-day Vice City, and sets launch for Thursday, November 19, 2026. On August 27, Rob Nelson, co-studio head of Rockstar North, told IGN this is a very big map and the largest, deepest, most densely populated world Rockstar has built, found off the blips as in Red Dead Redemption 2. Nelson already called it the largest world in August, and September 29 added a rough multiple of GTA 5.

A Longer Drive Only If You Stop

A GTA 5 driver already has a clock for Paleto, the highway back, and a five star chase that runs out of road. If around twice is usable land, that clock stretches, and planes, boats, and trains become how you cross Leonida, but only if the extra ground has the alleys and interiors Garbut described. Insider Gaming wrote that Red Dead Redemption 2 is only slightly bigger than GTA 5, so a true 2x map would dwarf that ride too.

GTA Base estimates an August 2026 leak at about 1.7 times GTA V. That figure is not around twice, and the page says Rockstar has not released the map. On YouTube, a reply claiming three times Red Dead Redemption 2 is unverified and fights that Red Dead note, and another says the leak looks stitched and may be missing edge land. Do not route November 19 off that picture.

Twice GTA 5 is a longer drive. It is a bigger game only if the second half makes you get out of the car.
