Two Names Now Sit on the GTA 6 Hacker Search

The September 15 Amsterdam arrest RockstarINTEL reported on September 29 is not the 2022 GTA 6 leak, and filing it under a Rockstar hacker headline sends that search to the wrong man.

September 15, Then Complete Isolation

RockstarINTEL says Dutch police arrested a 24-year-old man from Amsterdam and that he appeared in court on Tuesday in relation to ShinyHunters. According to the statement the outlet quotes, he was arrested on September 15, is suspected of participating in a criminal organization, and laptop information included details of two murders to be committed abroad, with indications he gave the order. He is also suspected of attempted incitement to commit two murders, a suspicion the statement separates from the ShinyHunters investigation, and the statement says he is being held in complete isolation while police investigate.

That is suspicion, not a conviction, and not a finding that anyone was killed. RockstarINTEL's lede still calls him a member of a hacking group that breached Rockstar Games. ShinyHunters denies he is associated with them, which RockstarINTEL also reports.

RockstarINTEL, citing a Neo Security statement via Reuters, names him Pepijn van der Stap and passes along that statement's description of him as an offensive security lead at the Amsterdam-based firm, previously convicted of data theft and extortion, who has since disavowed cyber crime. The police quotation does not print that name.

The 2022 Leaker Is Still Kurtaj

Dexerto reports UK police arrested Arion Kurtaj after the 2022 GTA 6 leak, a teapotuberhacker drop of about 90 pre-alpha files on GTAForums on September 18, 2022, and that a court later placed him under an indefinite hospital order. PC Gamer reported on July 16, 2026 that he had been moved from a secure hospital to prison and was awaiting a retrial around GTA 6's launch month. That UK track is not this Amsterdam arrest.

The statement RockstarINTEL quotes separates that murder suspicion from the ShinyHunters probe and does not name Rockstar or GTA 6, and neither the Rockstar Newswire nor the GTA VI page names him. Rockstar's wording on the breach, as RockstarINTEL relays it, was that a limited amount of non-material company information was accessed in connection with a third-party data breach and that the incident had no impact on the organization or players.

RockstarINTEL says it was claimed 80 million files were taken after an unpaid ransom. The police statement does not tie that claim to a murder plot.

Search GTA 6 hacker arrested and this Amsterdam case will sit on top of Kurtaj. Kurtaj remains the name on the 2022 leak, and the murder line stays a suspicion.
