We Watched 26 GTA 6 YouTube Videos: What's Real, What's Hype

Most of what 26 GTA 6 videos 'revealed' traces to one magazine, one merch box and one basketball game. We sorted the rest into reported and guesswork.
We went through 26 GTA 6 videos from 11 YouTube channels, published between September 16 and October 2, 2026, and sorted every big claim into confirmed, reported and guesswork. The channels: TGG, GTA VI O’Clock, DarkViperAU, MrBossFTW, GhillieMaster, TheProfessional, TmarTn2, Hazard, InkTV, T5G and Sav.
Seven weeks before launch, GTA YouTube is basically three news events and a lot of very confident thumbnails.
Claim. Almost everything “new” in these 26 videos traces back to three sources: Game Informer’s cover story, Rockstar’s $399.99 merch box and the Miami HEAT announcement. The rest is creator guesswork, some of it smart and some of it unsourced.
Evidence. Ten of the 26 videos cover the Game Informer story. Five cover the Vice City Collection box. Every date-specific prediction for a new trailer comes from creators, not Rockstar. Several repeated numbers (“600,000 animations,” “Vice City twice Los Santos”) trace to real developer interviews that creators repeat without saying where they came from, and the “80-hour story” gets stretched.
Verdict. Official facts in these videos check out when they quote Rockstar or a store page. Magazine and preview details are Reported. Trailer dates, story hurricanes and DLC theme parks are guesswork. Only “700 interiors” stays unconfirmed.
- September 17 — Rockstar announces Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album. Creators rank the six singles.
- September 24 — the $399.99 Vice City Collection box. Creators mostly pan it.
- September 28 — eBay resale listings appear before the box even sells out.
- September 29 — Game Informer’s cover story lands. Ten videos follow.
- October 1 — trailer-date theories peak around October 15.
- October 2 — HEAT “Night in Vice City” and LOVE magazine previews.

How We Sorted 26 Videos
For each video we logged the claims, then checked them against Rockstar’s site, store pages and the outlets creators cited. Confirmed means Rockstar, Take-Two, a first-party store or an official partner said it. Reported means a named outlet or document said it. Guesswork means the creator’s own theory. We skipped shorts under 90 seconds and a GTA VI O’Clock episode with captions disabled. Credit where due: when creators quoted Rockstar, they usually quoted it right.
Our earlier temperature check, from late September, is here: what GTA 6 fans are talking about before November 19.
Confirmed: What the Creators Got Right
- The $399.99 box is merch only. TGG, GhillieMaster, TmarTn2, TheProfessional and DarkViperAU all read Rockstar’s store copy correctly: The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection, game sold separately. Several said “Good Times State” and “$400.” Same product, misheard name, rounded price.
- The HEAT game is real. TGG’s October 2 video gets it right: HEAT vs Bucks as “Vice City” on November 18, on ESPN, with a uniform nobody has seen. Full story in our marketing tracker.
- Single-player first. TmarTn2 and GTA VI O’Clock correctly cite Take-Two’s line that GTA 6 launches as a single-player title while GTA V Online carries on.
- “Not on disc.” TGG and TmarTn2 say the physical edition isn’t a disc. That matches Rockstar’s own copy: the boxed Standard Edition holds a download code (boxed copy).
Reported: The Game Informer Details Everyone Repeated
Ten videos covered Game Informer’s September 29 cover story, and the same handful of details shows up in nearly all of them (Reported, magazine reporting of Rockstar interviews):
- Tropical storms and seasonal hurricanes, with localized, persistent weather. Rockstar didn’t say how often storms hit or whether they affect missions. See weather.
- 170+ animal species, 60+ birds and 30+ land mammals, with Rare, Discoverable and Legendary tracking. See wildlife.
- Aaron Garbut: the map is about twice GTA V’s. See map size.
- Jason and Lucia’s relationship can stay platonic or turn romantic, with no gameplay bonus. Some missions unlock based on income. Six stars and a heat system return.
The honest take came from GhillieMaster, TmarTn2 and DarkViperAU, who all said there was less new information than the hype suggested. DarkViperAU said he learned little given how much was already out. InkTV briefly said “600” species before correcting to the article’s 170-plus. Things happen when you read 14 pages live.
Other reported items worth knowing: TheProfessional found eBay listings for the $399.99 box at roughly $700 to $1,300 on September 28, while it was still in stock on Rockstar’s store. DarkViperAU relayed a report that the Australian allocation sold out in about ten minutes; NoobFeed reported the same, saying it went on sale through EB Games for A$700. GTA VI O’Clock relayed a claimed Rockstar email telling performers “The date you may announce your involvement is still November 19th.” Outlets picked it up; Rockstar still hasn’t commented, so it stays a claim. And TGG’s “new info coming Monday” checks out: LOVE magazine’s Issue 27, with Rob Nelson and Rupert Humphries, is due October 5, per VICE and RockstarINTEL.
Guesswork: Trailer Dates, Story Hurricanes and Theme Parks
Trailer 3 on October 15. MrBossFTW’s theory stacks real facts (a locked Discord channel, a pre-announced GTA Online October schedule, an October 15 deadline in the Kaseya sign paperwork) into a date Rockstar never gave. GhillieMaster guessed late October. InkTV expected merch instead. Our longer take: official trailers.
A story hurricane. TmarTn2 and TheProfessional both predict a hurricane in the final chapter, with TheProfessional comparing it to San Andreas’s riots. Fun idea. Rockstar hasn’t said storms touch the story at all.
Theme parks as DLC. TmarTn2 refuses to accept a Florida without Orlando and suggests the parks could come later. Rockstar’s reported line was “we may not have those exact locations.” T5G says leaks put a rocket pad on the map. We don’t do leaks.
Gloriana as Virginia. InkTV reviewed a mapper’s Virginia theory and sided with Georgia. Rockstar has only ever shown Gloriana on licence plates. Details in our Leonida map hub.
Capri’s secrets. Sav’s deep dive on the town of Capri starts from something real, a Capri road sign in An Extended Look, then builds most of its map reading on leaked material. His money-system video is on firmer ground: the idea that some missions wait until you’ve earned enough lines up with Game Informer’s reported “certain missions only become available based on your current income.” The exact thresholds are still unknown.
GTA 6 Online in early 2027; “700 interiors”. TmarTn2, GTA VI O’Clock and Hazard read Twitch CEO Dan Clancy’s Bloomberg line about “an even bigger one next year when they launch multiplayer” as a 2027 window. That’s an inference from someone who doesn’t work at Rockstar.
The Numbers That Sound Made Up Mostly Have a Source
Hazard and T5G both rattle off a stack of size and scale numbers without saying where they came from. We traced them, and most survive. The catch is who said them and how. These trace to Rockstar developers talking to press and creators around the Extended Look, so we label them Reported, not printed on Rockstar’s site.
- “Three times RDR2.” Christopher Byrd’s New York Times preview: “The overall map, the studio said, is three times as large as the playable area of its previous game, Red Dead Redemption 2.”
- “Vice City alone is twice Los Santos” and “11 times”. These come from TGG, who interviewed Rockstar co-studio head Rob Nelson. Per SlashGear, TGG said “Vice City itself is twice the size of Los Santos,” and Vice City with its suburbs “is 11 times bigger than Los Santos” with its suburbs. That’s a creator relaying a developer interview, not a line on Rockstar’s site. Note the wording: that’s city-plus-suburbs, not “GTA V’s whole urban area.”
- “600,000 animations.” Aaron Garbut, via TechRadar’s write-up of the NYT piece, against about 55,000 for GTA V and 300,000 for RDR2. “We art-directed each individual one of them,” Garbut said.
- “An 80-hour story.” Half right. Nelson said his own playthrough took around 80 hours “including the main story and some optional objectives,” per Digital Trends. Thumbnails that say the main story alone is 80 hours are stretching it.
- “700 enterable buildings.” Still unconfirmed. Rockstar told TGG there are “hundreds” of places to enter and wouldn’t confirm 700 (Estimate for 700).
So the lesson isn’t “creators make stuff up.” It’s that they repeat real quotes without the receipt, and sometimes round them up on the way. Same with the merch: Beebom tracked eBay asks for the $399.99 box from about $800 to $1,750, and TheGamer found $225 asks for code-in-box Standard pre-orders back in June (Reported).
Which Channels to Watch for What
- Fast news recaps: TGG and T5G. Quick and mostly accurate on official copy.
- Long-form context: GTA VI O’Clock. Best on industry and cast chatter, careful with leaks.
- Theories: MrBossFTW and InkTV. Labeled as theories, mostly. Enjoy accordingly.
- Market reality: TheProfessional on scalping, Hazard on aviation nerdery.
- Skeptic’s chair: DarkViperAU and GhillieMaster, who will tell you when a news cycle is thinner than it looks.
What We Still Don’t Know
- Whether any new Rockstar video arrives before launch.
- What LOVE magazine’s full interview adds on October 5.
- Whether the in-game radio reveal Rockstar promised lands before November.
The official clock: pre-load November 12, launch November 19 at 12:00 a.m. ET per US store listings. Until then, YouTube will keep doing what it does best: turning one magazine into fifty videos. Watch them. Just check the label first.
