Charlie Kinloch Says Discord Posts Turned Urgent for a GTA 6 Announcement

Kotaku's 9 October 2026 hearing report says Charlie Kinloch treated Discord posts known since March and June 2025 as urgent in October because a GTA 6 announcement was close, the end of October the developers were fired and days before the date moved from May 2026 to November 2026.
Players waiting out the slip from May 2026 to November 2026 now have Charlie Kinloch's answer for why Discord posts he had since March and June became a firing case in late October: a GTA 6 announcement he says he later learned was imminent, according to Kotaku's 9 October 2026 account of the Glasgow hearing. Days later, Rockstar moved your date.

Who Passed Charlie Kinloch the Screenshots?
Kotaku's account of the Rockstar Discord mole tribunal covers union-busting allegations at a Glasgow employment tribunal after Rockstar fired over 30 employees. The company says that was gross misconduct, including leaks of sensitive GTA 6 development information. The fired developers say Rockstar wanted to stop the UK trade group IWGB from getting a foothold.
Kotaku reports alias AB, a junior employee, passed screenshots of union activity in a Discord server to Charlie Kinloch for over two years. Kinloch, Rockstar Lincoln co-studio manager and HR director, had that material long before the October 2025 GTA 6 developer firings. He contends he had no interest in or knowledge of their union status and was focused on leak risk.
Why Did March and June Wait Until October?
A lawyer asked why comments Kinloch knew about from March 2025 and June 2025 were not treated as urgent then. As Kotaku prints it, Kinloch said October was when the business was, as he later learned, on the cusp of a significant announcement. Working hours, crunch, and how the business worked became incredibly significant through that lens, he said, because one public comment could damage the company ahead of that GTA 6 announcement.
He is describing posts he already had, with October as the announcement window and not a new find. If you are living with the slip from May 2026 to November 2026, October is the week he says those posts threatened the company.
Twelve Members, Then the Date Moved
Fired developers contend the information passed to Kinloch showed the group 12 members away, which Kotaku describes as 10 percent of the workforce, from the threshold for a recognized union. They put that figure to him in the hearing.
Kotaku places the dismissals at the end of October and the delay from May 2026 to November 2026 days later. Speculation about a unionization link started immediately, and the report does not settle it. The date you are still waiting on was announced days after those dismissals.
Are the Videos Ahead of the Hearing?
One YouTube listing says more than 30 developers were fired at the end of October 2025 and that Rockstar is in court over it. A second listing claims a mole inside workers' Discord servers for 2.5 years, 34 UK developers fired in 2025, and false pretenses, attributed to union members.
The second listing's 34 UK developers, 2.5 years, and false pretenses outrun Kotaku's over 30 and over two years, and neither listing is a judgment. An r/Games thread uses the Kotaku headline. The tripwire is a ruling or a transcript that locks the headcount and the pretext. Crunch talk in public, or a union 12 members from recognition: those are the two lenses, and the tribunal has not picked one.
