Miami photo runs: 15 October is not a locked install for Vice City chairs

Reporter Joel Franco said on 12 October that a Miami Beach city official told him the GTA 6 beach deal that could start 15 October has not been signed, and The Miamian reported that county plans at the airport, port, and Metromover are in serious jeopardy. Rockstar has not confirmed a cancellation or a game delay.
Reported Anyone planning a mid-October photo run for Vice City branding on Miami Beach should not treat 15 October as a confirmed install date, after reporter Joel Franco said on 12 October 2026 that a Miami Beach city official told him the agreement has not been signed yet. If you booked the beach for those chairs, 15 October is not a locked install.

Is 15 October Still the Beach Start?
Franco says the September vote was to enter negotiations with Amplify Marketing Inc., and that details are still being hashed out. That is a reporter’s source, not a Rockstar announcement.
Reported IGN reported a 4-3 vote on 10 September 2026 to negotiate a discreet campaign worth at least $3 million from 15 October through 31 December. Eurogamer reported VI or Vice City on Boucher Brothers chairs and umbrellas, not the words Grand Theft Auto, not on city property, not during Art Basel, and benefits closer to $4 million as Commissioner Tanya Katzoff Bhatt indicated.
The Airport Plan Is the One in Jeopardy
The Miamian’s “in serious jeopardy” line is about the county plan, including Miami International Airport, PortMiami, and Metromover, not a reported cancellation of the chairs. Mayor Daniella Levine Cava’s staff want Rockstar to pay to temporarily turn those sites into Vice City installations, and some commissioners object. Anyone who has sat through a five-star wanted level knows that objection.
County Commissioner Rene Garcia told colleagues, per The Miamian: “I feel really uncomfortable with this whole thing,” arguing the county should not be collaborating with a “game that's depicting Miami like a crime haven; Miami like a murder capital.” Commissioner Oliver Gilbert delayed a possible vote that would have ended all negotiations with Rockstar, so the talks are neither cleared nor killed. The Miamian’s Francisco Alvarado calls the pushback manufactured outrage, writing that opponents are more bothered about being frozen out of the discussions with Rockstar.
Garcia said he had “done some research, and at least a minimum of $150 million, [Rockstar is] spending on marketing,” against a Miami-Dade contract he put at $957,000, The Miamian reports. That figure is not the beach negotiation.
Fans calling the chairs a takeover are arguing about roman numerals on umbrellas, while the county fight over the airport, the port, and the Metromover is the one still open. Watch for a signed beach date, and for whether the delayed vote to stop Rockstar talks gets taken. Polygon reported the launch for 19 November 2026, and nothing in the 13 October report moves that date.
