GTA 6 Boxed Copies Sold Out on Amazon US and at Many Target Stores

GTA 6 boxed copies sold out on Amazon in the US and at many Target stores in populated areas as of 11 October, and RockstarINTEL's 12 October check means a player who wanted the PS5 code-in-a-box cannot finish that Amazon order right now.

The box can sell out and digital cannot.

Amazon and Big-City Target Are Already Dark

As of Sunday 11 October, RockstarINTEL said the GTA 6 Amazon pre-order for the PS5 code-in-a-box could not be placed, with the listing marked currently unavailable and no date for a return to stock. It verified preorders sold out at many Target stores in populated US areas. LA and NYC had next to none and a Preorders sold out notice. Some other stores still showed stock as Ready on Nov 12.

RockstarINTEL said the pre-order had stopped at a few retailers in different regions over the previous few days, with Amazon in the US the biggest. It also said the listings could be errors, so a badge is not a finished allocation. A player in LA or NYC mostly cannot reserve the stores that were checked.

Whilst it's possible these are listing errors, Rockstar themselves confirmed back in June that they've only made limited quantities of this version of the game.

That limited-run line is RockstarINTEL's claim, not an October statement from Rockstar.

Does That Box Come Back Before November 12?

Rockstar's June pre-order Newswire says pre-orders opened at midnight local time on 25 June 2026, with launch on 19 November for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The physical version contains a download code and is available starting 12 November to support pre-loading. Purchases before 20 November still get the Vintage Vice City Pack. That June post does not call the game box a limited run.

TheGamer reported on 25 June that PS5 and Xbox code-in-a-box pre-orders sold out on Amazon US within hours and later restocked. That June sellout later restocked, and Rockstar has not said if this October gap does the same before 12 November. The stake RockstarINTEL flagged is a cheaper box, and many retailers including Amazon do not charge until it ships, unlike PlayStation Network.
