Look Up at Kaseya: The Vice City Sign Can Outlast November 19

IGN reported on September 22, 2026 that a Welcome to Vice City sign is installed on the Kaseya Center roof. Miami-Dade is expected to collect $975,000, Rockstar paid just shy of $1 million, and the stay can run through April 11, 2027, months after the November 19 launch.
The only GTA 6 Miami Vice City sign a player can actually look for is already on the Heat's roof, and IGN reported on September 22 that Rockstar reportedly paid just shy of $1 million to install it, with Miami-Dade expected to collect $975,000.
That roof is the marketing you can actually see.
Reported IGN documented the install and the fee; Rockstar has not announced the sign
The Roof Already Says Welcome to Vice City
IGN reported a Welcome to Vice City sign was lifted by helicopter onto the roof of Miami's Kaseya Center and installed that afternoon. Rockstar's VI page already names the fiction: Jason and Lucia in a criminal conspiracy across Leonida, and Vice City, USA as the darkest side of the sunniest place in America. The roof borrows that fictional name and puts it on an arena you can find without a trailer frame.
IGN used two figures, and they are not interchangeable. according to IGN, Rockstar reportedly paid just shy of $1 million to install the sign, and Miami-Dade is expected to collect $975,000 from Rockstar under a marketing agreement. Expected to collect is not the same as cash already transferred. If you already have launch day circled, the letters do not move it, but anyone in Miami or on a Heat broadcast can still point at that roof.
The Contract Can Outlast Launch Day
Documents IGN said it reviewed keep the sign up for the later of one year after installation or the Miami Heat's last 2026-27 home game on April 11, 2027. Grand Theft Auto 6 releases on November 19 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, so a stay through April is months of roof time after the game is out.
The same documents set an installation deadline of October 15, or Rockstar could terminate the agreement. IGN reported the sign already up on September 22, so on October 13 that Thursday is a termination deadline on a finished job, not the day the sign appears. IGN also said October 15 is a Thursday Rockstar has historically used for GTA news, and that another marketing beat was possible, not scheduled.
Why Buy the Permits If Everyone Already Knows?
Under a clip of real-life Miami marketing, one viewer asks why Rockstar spends the money and pulls permits when people who play already know the game is coming and social media would carry the release. A reply says that viewer just lived through complaints that Rockstar was not promoting the game enough, and that people will complain either way. Another viewer says a real-life Vice City takeover of Miami will be surreal, and that Rockstar campaigns run on a different level.
IGN reported a contentious battle over marketing a game in which the player can gun down police and civilians, and said the city ultimately ruled in favor of the campaign. That yes came after the objection, so it is not a love letter from Miami. On a video about Miami's influence on the series, one viewer wrote, "Y'all must haven't played Vice City," and replies put the earlier game about 24 years back. One person from Miami said they are glad the game is set in their hometown, so the roof reads as a souvenir of a map that crowd already knew.
IGN said August conversations pitched events, an airport takeover, and more, and that whether any of those would happen was still up in the air, with no clear picture yet of other Miami marketing. A YouTube title that an NBA team is becoming Vice City is not that picture. IGN only said a broadcast shot of the roof sign on the October 21 home opener would not be surprising, and that any trailer around the game remained to be seen.
Watch the roof before you hunt an airport in Vice City letters. The Welcome to Vice City sign is the priced install in that report, and the contract can keep those letters up through April 11, 2027.
