How to avoid GTA 6 spoilers before launch: mute lists for X, YouTube, TikTok and Reddit

GTA 6 unlocks in New Zealand at 6:00 a.m. ET on November 18, about 18 hours before US players get in at 12:00 a.m. ET on November 19. That timing comes from PlayStation Store listings, not a Rockstar announcement. And a new leak, roughly 25 minutes of unauthenticated footage, started circulating on October 8.

So you have two spoiler clocks: one already running, and one that starts while you’re eating breakfast on launch eve. Here’s how to mute both.

Why GTA 6 Spoilers Hit Early: New Zealand Unlocks 18 Hours Before the US East Coast

Store listings set GTA 6 to unlock at midnight local time on November 19, one region at a time (Store listing). Midnight in Auckland is 6:00 a.m. ET on November 18. Midnight in New York comes 18 hours later. We covered the full ladder in PlayStation Store listings show a 19-hour GTA 6 unlock gap; the 19 hours there runs to the very last region, not to New York.

Eighteen hours is a full play day for somebody in Sydney or Tokyo, and the clips start long before the first person reaches the end. Xbox owners have historically been able to switch console region to start early. PlayStation ties purchases to the account’s region, so there’s no easy shortcut (Reported). Either way, more people play before you do. Rockstar could still override the clock with a single global unlock. It hasn’t said so.

The October 8 Leak Means You Need Mutes Now

On October 8, the leaker behind the August clips posted a new video of about 25 minutes. VGC, GamesRadar, GameSpot and Polygon covered it. Outlets say it appears to be development footage. Nobody with authority has confirmed it, and Rockstar and Take-Two haven’t commented (Reported). We’re not describing what’s in it. That’s the point of this page.

History says it won’t vanish on its own. After the September 2022 hack, Take-Two filed takedowns across YouTube, X, GTAForums and Reddit. In August 2026, it went to federal court in New York for DMCA subpoenas aimed at Microsoft, Discord, X and Google records (Reported; see post 86 and post 93). Takedowns remove uploads. They don’t stop re-uploads, reaction videos, or that one friend in the group chat. Status of every circulating claim lives on our leak tracker, which never hosts the files.

The GTA 6 Spoiler Mute List

Copy these in two batches. Most filters match words in captions, post text and hashtags, not what’s in a video, so cast wide.

Batch 1, leak words (add now):

• GTA 6 leak · GTA6 leak · GTA VI leak · leaked gameplay · leaked footage
• leek · cyberleek · extended leek
• dev build · development build · debug build

Batch 2, launch words (add November 18 at 6:00 a.m. ET):

• GTA 6 · GTA6 · GTA VI · GTAVI · #GTA6 · #GTAVI
• Jason Duval · Lucia Caminos · Raul Bautista · Boobie Ike · Brian Heder · Cal Hampton · Real Dimez · Dre’Quan
• Leonida · Vice City
• ending · final mission · last mission · credits · twist · dies · death
• walkthrough · full game · playthrough · mission 1 · part 1 · first hour · 100%
• spoiler · spoilers · no spoilers (yes, the people who promise this lie)

Batch 2 will also hide the news you want, like patch notes. That’s the price. Check the hub pages you trust directly instead of scrolling for them.

How to Mute GTA 6 Spoilers on X and TikTok

X: open Settings and look for Muted words, in the privacy and safety area. Add each term from the lists above, and mute it on your Home timeline and in notifications. If X gives you a choice of who to mute from, pick everyone, because the people you follow are the ones most likely to post a clip at 6:01 a.m. ET. Don’t count on mutes covering DMs.

TikTok: use the Filter video keywords setting in your content preferences and add the same terms. Apply them to every feed it offers, including For You and Following. TikTok filters by caption and hashtag text, so a clip captioned only “bro 💀” will still get through. Be ready to swipe fast.

A note on accuracy: we couldn’t load X’s or TikTok’s own help pages to confirm the exact menu order this week, so we’ve named the setting instead of the clicks. Menus move. The setting names are what to search for.

How to Mute GTA 6 Spoilers on YouTube and Reddit

YouTube doesn’t let viewers mute keywords in their feed. You have to train it, using controls from YouTube’s help page:

• On any GTA 6 video in your Home or Watch Next feed, open the three-dot menu and choose Not interested, or Don’t recommend channel for channels that post leaks or launch-day streams.
• On a Shorts shelf on Home, open the menu and pick Show fewer Shorts. Shorts are where clips land first.
• Turn off your watch history for a few weeks so your GTA 6 trailer rewatches stop feeding the algorithm.
• On desktop, third-party browser extensions such as BlockTube can hide videos by keyword. They’re community tools, not YouTube features, so check the permissions before installing.

Reddit has no keyword mute for your home feed either, but it lets you mute whole communities, which per Reddit’s help page removes them from Home, Popular and notifications. On a community page, open the overflow menu and choose Mute r/[community name]. In the app, you can also manage the list under Settings, Account settings, Manage muted communities. Mute the GTA subs on November 18 and come back when you’re done. If you run a Discord server, its AutoMod lets admins set a Custom Keyword Rule (Server Settings, AutoMod) that blocks messages with your listed words.

What Mutes Can’t Catch

• Thumbnails and stills. A screenshot with no caption gets past every keyword filter.
• Group chats and DMs. Keyword mutes are built for feeds, not private messages. Tell your friends your rules now.
• Instagram. Its Hidden Words setting hides comments and message requests on your account, not posts in your feed.
• Live streams. Titles change mid-stream. Don’t open a stream on November 18.
• Creator pledges. Some outlets and creators say they won’t show leaks. That’s their policy, not a filter.

The Plan for November 18 and 19

Turn on Batch 1 tonight. Add Batch 2 on November 18 at 6:00 a.m. ET, when New Zealand unlocks. Pre-load opens November 12, so the download is the only thing you need to do on launch night. At 12:00 a.m. ET on November 19, turn off your phone notifications, start the game, and leave the mutes on until the credits. Then go spoil it for your cousin. Responsibly.
